Opening Doors in Sapang Bato and Pampanga
Apl's personal giving to the schools of his childhood - libraries, computer laboratories, music rooms and scholarships in Pampanga.
Before the foundation was formed, Apl gave directly to the schools of his childhood. At Sapang Bato National High School and Sto. Cristo and neighboring barangay schools in Pampanga, he funded and organized new and improved learning facilities so that students had rooms, desks, and materials to learn in. At Holy Angel University he helped establish a music library and recording studio open to young people from the surrounding community.
This personal giving period became the template for the foundation's later classroom work: start where the need is known, work with the school and the barangay, and stay in relationship after the ribbon is cut. Thirteen years later, APLFI returned to the same high school with Khan Academy Philippines and Accenture Philippines.
